Southbank Tram Depot is located in Southbank, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. It is one of 8 depots operated in the Yarra Trams network. The depot was opened in March 1997 on the site of the former Montague shipping shed, and replaced the now-demolished South Melbourne tram depot.
The main yard has 9 roads, 2 of these inside a maintenance shed. There are also 2 stabling roads for the 3 Colonial Tramcar Restaurant cars, which also operate from this depot. Two entrances exist - namely East Gate and West Gate.
Southbank Depot hosts a variety of trams, including 21 W-Class trams, 6 A-Class trams, 5 C2-Class trams and 19 D2-Class trams, a total of 51. Servicing of Z3-Class trams from other depots is performed at Southbank, however these trams are not used on Southbank routes.
The depot is also home to Revenue Protection Officers (R.P.O.) and Customer Service Employees (C.S.E.), some of which started working under the Public Transport Corporation (P.T.C.) as conductors.
